Designpreis Halle 2017 — »Time«
Martin Pless — LONDON BERLIN TOKYO
Time is relative – not only in Einstein’s terms. It can be measured objectively but nevertheless remains a subjectively felt quantity. A minute can feel like a moment or like eternity. We use calendars and watches to objectively measure time, and we structure our days according to their standardised divisions. Starting from the assumption that the subjective perception of time is also influenced by the precision of indication, I developed an experimental series of three wall clocks. With their uncharacteristic displays, the objects cannot be instantly identified as clocks.
